Bloor Street Entertains

Bloor Street Entertains

Each year, on the eve of World AIDS Day, Toronto witnesses something powerful, something unique; it sees the coming together of exquisite culinary masters, lavish retailers, and elegant florists who join together for a vital cause; it experiences CANFAR’s Bloor Street Entertains. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Bloor Street Entertains (BSE).

BSE 2016 was no exception to the extravagant history of this event. BSE Exquisite, presented by Co-chair Sylvia Mantella, brought a high-end silent auction, boutique, and draw to the evening. Guests had the opportunity to indulge in luxurious items and unique experiences while supporting CANFAR’s life-saving HIV and AIDS research.

Sylvia Mantella serves on the committee for the annual Scrubs in the City event, supporting the Sick Kids Foundation.

Now in its 16th year, Scrubs in the City is the signature fundraising event for Sick Kids Leaders, a group of local business and community leaders who fundraise for a specific cause at the hospital each year.

SickKids has the doctors; Air Canada has the planes. At Wanderluxe, the complementary missions of the Air Canada Foundation and the Herbie Fund at SickKids meld.

The Air Canada Foundation extends reach: enabling kids with challenges to reach their full potential, and enabling kids with complex medical issues to reach the right care.

The Herbie Fund extends SickKids fight to make every kid a healthy kid to the world: bringing kids from around the globe to the hospital for life-changing surgeries.

On April 6, 2017, our guests and sponsors joined us at Wanderluxe, completing the picture by delivering the funds to make it happen.

It’s philanthropy in synchronicity.

Suzanne Rogers Presents DVF

This year’s Suzanne Rogers Presents… private luncheon feted the one and only Diane von Furstenberg. An audience of 164 VIP guests were captivated by the legendary designer, who took the stage to trade anecdotes with her old friend, Vogue contributing editor André Leon Talley. The fashionable affair also raised more than $490,000 for children’s charities including War Child and Covenant House’s “Just Like a Girl You Know” campaign.

Boost Butterfly Ball

Boost Butterfly Ball

Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre™ (Boost CYAC) is excited to announce that its largest annual fundraising event – The Butterfly Ball® – has raised an unparalleled $850,000. The sold out event hosted 430 guests and took place last night at the Four Seasons Hotel. Anchor of CTV’s ETALK and co-host of CTV’s Your Morning, Ben Mulroney hosted the evening.

Each year this event raises critical funds for Boost CYAC, enabling the centre to continue to support children and youth who have experienced abuse. Some of the funds raised last night will support much-needed sex trafficking support services for children/youth under 18 years.“I cannot fully express my gratitude to the countless individuals responsible for the success of last night’s gala,” stated Boost CYAC President & CEO, Karyn Kennedy. “Our sponsors, donors and guests were so very generous in their support of Boost CYAC. My sincere thanks go to our Honorary Chair, Suzanne Rogers, Co-Chairs, Daniela De Gasperis and Vanessa Mulroney, and the Butterfly Ball committee. This success would not be possible without their leadership and commitment.”

Laughter is the Best Medicine

Laughter is the Best Medicine

Michael Garron Hospital Foundation’s Laughter is the Best Medicine returns May 13, 2017 at the Beanfield Centre, Exhibition Place to fill your prescription for laughter. We are thrilled to announce comedic superstar JIM GAFFIGAN and welcome back the eminently funny east-ender, Will Arnett, as our host!

This high-profile gala, with a custom menu designed by internationally acclaimed MASTER CHEF, SUSUR LEE, will carry on our tradition of delivering unparalleled entertainment by continuing to showcase the best comedy the world has to offer.

First there was comedic icon Jerry Seinfeld in 2012, who delivered side-splitting laughs and entertainment for more than 1,500 of the city’s corporate and philanthropic leaders. Next, there was stand-up great Chris Rock in 2014, whose unequalled brand of humour had the audience in stitches during an unforgettable evening. Together with Toronto-born comedian and “Honorary Doctor” host Will Arnett, they ensured no one left without a smile on their face.

Salah Bachir Show

Join Salah Bachir and a host of celebrity guests for an entertaining evening of fun and philanthropy. By attending the Salah Bachir Show, you are helping build a new, much larger emergency department at St. Joseph’s Health Centre to better serve Toronto’s west-end community when they need care the most.

Humour Me

Humour Me

Humour Me is a charity event where a group of committed sponsors, brave CEOs and Canadian and international stand-up comics come together to raise money for youth-related charities.  Humour Me applies a twist to the standard stand-up routine by bringing together both professional comedians and influential, high-profile amateurs to perform together.

The focus of the event is raising funds to support organizations that deliver vital services to young people.  To date we have donated over $8,000,000 to some incredible groups who are working hard to make a real difference in the lives of young Canadians.  This year the net proceeds of Humour Me will support children’s mental health programs at SickKids.

The Grand Commission

GMP, a leading Canadian investment dealer, is breaking ground for this inaugural event by being the first company to commit to donate the day’s trade commissions to help combat sex trafficking.

Top business and philanthropic leaders will also come together to support substantive, long-term solutions to a critical local and national problem.

One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Covenant House Toronto and its five-year, comprehensive, $10-million anti-sex trafficking campaign, “Just Like a Girl You Know.”

The Grand Commission promises high returns to support real solutions in our city. The event costs will be underwritten by corporate sponsorship to ensure that maximum proceeds can go right to the bottom line.

The evening’s elegant gala, The Grand Ball, at the Ritz-Carlton Toronto, will be the scene of a celebration of generosity and compassion.

ONEXONE works with local organizations to help create and operate programs that help children – focusing on providing essentials such as water, food, healthcare, and education. OneXOne has raised over 20 million dollars since its inception 2007. Sylvia was invited to serve on the ONEXONE board in 2011. In 2012 ONEXONE opened a hospital in Haiti, with a prenatal care room named in the Mantella family’s honor for their support provided since 2008.

At ONEXONE, we believe that Hope Belongs to Everyone, and that by creating countless tiny ripples of hope, one by one, we can truly change the world. We encourage you to help create more of these ripples by joining us at the ONEXONE Million Meals Challenge on May 23, 2014.

During the last seven years ONEXONE has accomplished much, helping the world’s most underprivileged children attain better access to health care, food, clean water, education and recreation. These things should not be privileges, but basic rights, and we will not rest until they are. We have taken many steps forward, but our work is just beginning, and the road ahead is long. Our journey has reinforced our belief that helping another person is not a responsibility or an obligation, but a privilege. Join Us… Be Part of the Solution.
