Vito Valela

Director of Leasing

Vito has an unusual background for someone in commercial real estate: science and theatre. He was actively involved in theatre in high school, where he played the King in “The King and I” and the Pharaoh in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat”. He then went on to study Medical Sciences at the University of Toronto, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985.

His first foray into business began right after graduation, when Vito took on a position as a pharmaceutical representative with Beecham Pharmaceuticals. Within one year he built up the highest grossing territory for all of Canada and maintained that standard for the remainder of his employment with Beecham.

In 1990, Vito earned his real estate license and immediately found his niche in commercial real estate. Five years later, he began working with Mantella, handling the leasing of the company’s commercial real estate portfolio and in 2009, Vito took on the role of Director of Leasing.

Vito oversees the listing of Mantella’s vacant properties, handles lease negotiations, tenant issues, and everything else that comes with managing an extensive real estate portfolio.

Although he welcomes each and every new tenant, Vito says he gets incredible satisfaction when one of the firm’s existing tenants renews their lease. Especially when they tell him they want to continue being a part of the “Mantella family”.

When not focusing on his corporate role at Mantella, Vito enjoys traveling, reading and the occasional night of karaoke. An important aspect of Vito’s life is his family, including his wife of 22 years and their daughter and son, who are both studying at the Schulich School of Business.
